The Adoration of the Shepherds

Bonifazio de’Pitati’s painting The Adoration of the Shepherds shows Mary holding the infant Jesus among Joseph and adoring shepherds. Winged cherubs float in golden clouds above the closely grouped figures, with a lamb, ruined architecture and distant countryside surrounding their richly colored garments.
