Houses at Kings Norton

A projecting half-timbered gable rises above two figures at a doorway, surrounded by tiled roofs, brick chimneys and tall windows. Allen Edward Everitt’s watercolor records a closely packed stretch of Kings Norton buildings beneath a softly clouded blue sky.

• The dark timber frame, chimneys and differently shaped windows give the buildings a clear structure.
• Long runs of roof tiles and pale wall surfaces repeat, especially away from windows and edges.
