A First Look at the New JigsawPuzzles.io (2026)

It's about time

Development preview of autumn-lake puzzle pieces, with loose pieces beside pieces on the board in the upcoming game.

Hey everyone. Alex here! I've been quiet in the changelog, but busy working on a new version of JigsawPuzzles.io. It's in playtesting now, and I'm getting ready to release it. Here's a look at what's coming.

The first release of the new game will just appear alongside the existing game, and it aspires to be the same game but better. So I'm not gonna change everything drastically or subject everyone to wild stuff... yet 😈.

That said, I am going to put out a new puzzle piece shape for everyone, and a few new piece shapes for Supporters (subscribers). Here are the new puzzle pieces.

Supporters can create a game using the new pieces and invite anyone so they can spread the fun. So to the Supporters: thank you!! More goodies incoming!

The new game also lets you use the catalog right from the in-game menu. This is great if you want to play with a group of friends and just keep doing puzzle after puzzle without having to reinvite people.

The new in-game catalog, with a grid of images beside the selected autumn picture, a piece preview, and the Create Puzzle button.
Development preview: browse pictures and create the next puzzle from inside the game. View full-size image.

The game has also had its image quality and overall performance tuned exquisitely. I would love to write about this at length but I'll spare you. What I will do is put out an article soon about how to get the most out your browser and this game (hint: turn on hardware acceleration in the settings).

If you're really itchin' to try the new version, we have a little playtest and a channel discussing it on the Discord server. Here's your invite: Join the JigsawPuzzles.io Discord.

Thanks for stopping by. More soon.
